Mayank Arya

Born and brought up in a small town of UP – Amroha. Mayank’s dreams were much bigger than his city of birth. Since a very young age, Mayank dreamt of exploring the world. Son of a businessman, Mayank wasn’t sure that running the family business would help him fulfill his dream. He chose the Merchant Navy instead and spent much of his youth sailing the ocean and exploring the world. True to the saying — the apple doesn’t fall far from the tree — Mayank made the most of a business opportunity that presented itself in 2009. He set up multiple successful businesses in Liberia, West Africa, and became a millionaire even before he turned 30. An armed assault on him which almost crippled him, combined with the spread of Ebola brought about an unfortunate downturn in the businesses and Mayank had to return with his wife and children to India. Physical, mental, and financial struggles faced after returning to India changed Mayank’s outlook on life. A few half-hearted business attempts led to intense introspection and Mayank chose to transform himself first to transform his life situation. Embracing a healthy lifestyle along with the strong support of his wife Yukti and younger brother Aditya started his second innings in business slowly but surely. A botched-up home salon service that left both Yukti and his sister-in-law, Garima with a severe skin reaction — and the brothers Mayank and Aditya furious. They decided to take things into their own hand and started working towards setting up a transparent and accountable home salon business. Yes madam was born out of the intense love, care & affection of two husbands towards their wives, which pushed them to bring more transparency in the salon services pricing model, prevent the use of duplicate products, and more accountability from beauty professionals.

Aditya Arya

The dynamic and determined younger brother of Mayank followed his elder brother’s footsteps and went on to become a mariner par excellence. After completing his studies, Aditya lost no time to become a 2nd mate. He trained for almost a year to become the youngest Dynamic Positioning Officer in 2012 when he was a mere 26 years of age. Although he was commanding the high seas from a very young age, he yearned to be his own boss. He kept his eyes and ears open for exciting business opportunities as he sailed the seas. What also kept calling him back to the land — his loved ones. One defining moment — the news of his colleague’s mother’s death— put life into perspective for Aditya. He was more determined than ever to get back to his loved ones and leave the seas in the hands of other seafarers. Not someone to act in haste, he planned his exit well. He saw his entrepreneurial dream finally coming true with Yes Madam but waited for the right time to start his entrepreneurial journey. Mayank, Yukti, and Aditya’s wife, Garima, were already putting their heart and soul into Yes Madam and he couldn’t wait to join them. On 14 November 2016, came back home to Yes Madam. Leaving a steady and substantial income for the uncertain life of an entrepreneur after seeing his brother go through immense hardships was not an easy decision. But he was driven by the cause of empowering women. The strength, resilience, and power of the women in his life were a driving factor and he wanted to empower other women around him. Providing a platform for women to learn, grow, and become financially independent was the first step towards empowering women and Aditya sees this vision become a reality with Yes Madam.

Akanksha Vishnoi

This diamond was formed under the intense pressure that COVID created in all our lives. She lost her pillar of support, her father, who caught the covid illness early on and couldn’t recover from it. It was during the three months of tending to her sick father and spending time with him that Akanksha figured her true calling — becoming an integral part of Yes Madam. A designer at heart, Akanksha kept her design sensibilities dormant under academic excellence. She did her BBA LLB from Symbiosis Law School. Determined to excel in her chosen field, Akanksha took full advantage of course curriculum and participated in mock trials, wrote research papers, presented in seminars and even went on to become the student ambassador for SSC online. But the excessively rule-based learning somehow didn’t agree to her dormant design sensibilities. During this time, her father was actively involved in bringing Yes Madam to life and Akanksha used to accompany her father and contributed in small ways towards building the brand. The cofounders of Yes Madam appreciated her creative contribution and never let her feel like an inexperienced girl. Losing her father to COVID put life in perspective for Akanksha. She realized that building a brand from scratch is what satisfies her soul. Her designer instincts helped in creating the Yes Madam brand and she even took up marketing responsibilities. Being the youngest of the founding team and being a woman came with its own set of challenges. But Akanksha, who is a keen observer and quick learner, took the brickbats in her stride and focused on strengthening the brand that we know today as — Yes Madam.
